Italy Allows It’s Citizens To Grow Cannabis At Home
Great news for the people in Italy. The cultivation of cannabis is no longer prohibited if it is a “minimum amount for personal use”. Those who plant it at home cannot be prosecuted if it is clear that the production is for “personal consumption”, the Rome Supreme Court ruled.
Cannabis legalization law pending
The verdict was made after the owner of two weed plants appealed to the Supreme Court for his conviction. Several parliamentarians welcomed the verdict. Now the parliament must pass a law on cannabis legalization.
This new law will be an important step to fight the mafia that makes a lot of money selling weed and other drugs.
Salvini fights against “state as drug dealer”
Senate President Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati declared ten days ago that a budgetary regulation for the liberalization of “cannabis light” was inadmissible and therefore had to be deleted from the budget law. Cannabis Light contains mainly CBD and less than 0.6% THC.
Their announcement sparked violent protests from the government parties. The opposition right-wing parties had opposed the liberalization of “cannabis light”. “We will do everything we can to ensure that the state does not become a drug dealer,” said the head of the opposition right-wing Lega, Matteo Salvini.
